Aboriginal Signage at Cape St. George

Pjila'si (welcome),

An historical mildstone was reached on April 17, 2004 when the first tri-lingual sign was errected at Rouzes Brook harbour in De Grau. The Mi'kmaq people have been the area's best kept secret since French deserters found refuge with the local French speaking Mi'kmaq population.

It is one small step towards the reintroduction of our aboriginal visibility. We will be silent and ashame no more. We will express ourselves and be a proud people. We look towards partnerships with others who call our lands home.

Wantaqo'ti, (peace).
